It Begins...

Welcome!

The wife and I decided to grow a vegetable garden this year, and the purpose of this blog is mainly to document that process.  It will mostly consist of periodic photos (don't forget to click them to view full size), but hopefully I'll remember to add some useful details to help us make our gardening experiences better and easier in the future.

We didn't really take any pics of the site preparation (I know, bummer, right?), but it was pretty simple.  Once we'd decided how big to make the garden, what to plant, and where to plant it we were ready to go.  We moved the rocks that were in the way, removed about 3 truck loads of crappy New Mexico sand, and replaced it with some lovely homemade compost-turned-soil that my parents were happy to give us (thanks guys!).  A quick rototilling and raking and the site was ready.

A super extra big thanks to all of the grandparents (as they're known now that our daughter Amelia's around) for all of their hard work, vehicle and equipment loanage, and moral and financial support.

The garden-to-be is about 10' by 12', and here's the general layout:

Time to plant in a couple of days!
